APOLLO UNITED PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION

The Apollo United Presbyterian Women's Association is an extremely active organization of our church body.  Made up of all the women in our congregation, we meet quarterly for worship, programs, business, mission and fun.  The organization sponsors fundraisers such as semi-annual salad bars, cookie baking, providing the food and kitchen help for rummage sales, and our biggest fundraiser—the Annual Christmas Tea and Craft Sale. We provide occasional meals for Meals on Wheels, and purchase gifts for needy families at Christmas. Our group handles any funeral dinners that are requested.  All events are geared towards our community, and are well-received. We generously support World Vision with a donation of $1,000 per year, and have used our funds to supplement the church’s utilities and purchases of supplies for the church kitchen.  Recently, we made two donations of $5,000 each to Food 4 Kids and the AUPC Emergency Fund. We also give support to community events like Rock the Block (Habitat for Humanity), Apollo Area Lions and the Havin shelter.

We also sponsor a Secret Prayer Sister group that gives support and love to a secret partner all year long, and ends with a group luncheon in late Spring. As you can see, we have a history of supporting our church’s purpose—“Wrapping our community in God’s love—one person at a time.”
